Guarding Devil's Den
The skies were dreary this early spring afternoon, but as I drove the Battlefield at Gettysburg a few years ago, this tree spoke to me. I have to admit I utilized a lot of post processing, but the tree and its location--Devil's Den--seemed to capture the sadness and the dreariness of all battlefields. People died here in wholesale numbers, and for me, all the monuments and manicured meadows cannot tell the story better than the gray skies and the silhouette of this single tree.
