The Downrigging

Chestertown, Maryland celebrates the Fall each October with a festival involving scores of wooden boats and some of the most beautiful tall ships in the region. At night, the illuminated tall ships take on a ghostly presence along the waterfront and take me back to memories of Robert Louis Stevenson books illustrated by N.C. Wyeth. It is fully how some photos provide memories of times that you know never really happened to you, but which lurked in the pages of my favorite books.
