This specimen landed on a pond-side tree at Chicago's Botanical Gardens, and made the photo work because of the colors and textures it introduced. Normally dragonfly photos are set against flowers and green lily pads, but the tree accentuated the browns in the dragonfly, who stood still long enough for a couple photos.
