Madrid Mailboxes

Madrid Mailboxes

A few years, on the Turquoise Trail between Santa Fe and east of Albuquerque, New Mexico, I visited the little town of Madrid. A few years ago the town provided the set for a second tier movie which will remain nameless. Despite that fact, Madrid has maintained its rustic and rural charm as an old time mine town. Yet, some of the little shops have some very good regional art. This row of mailboxes, all lined up together, seemed to say something about our need to differentiate ourselves from our neighbors and friends while seeking identity as a society. This photo reminds me that humanity is more uniform than not in our motivations and desires despite our sometimes spectacular attempts to differentiate ourselves from our peers.
